BEHIND THE MAGIC 64-BIT INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
=================================================

IMPORTANT!!: These registry instructions were created and tested for Windows 7 64-bit.
I can't vouch for them working under 64-bit XP/Vista, although there's no harm in trying.
All the changes can be easily undone with the "Uninstall.reg" file.

1. First copy the provided \BTM folder to the root directory, c:\BTM. If you choose to place
the BTM folder on the C: root and your disc drive is D: then you do not need to edit anything.

** Skip the registery install if doing a full hard drive install, see further down.

2. Open Registery folder. For disc drive D Double click on the "BTMx64 Install.reg" file and say yes to all the prompts. Windows
should say the changes were successfully incorporated into the registry.

3. For Disc Drives D, E, F, G or H choose "BTMx64 Install.reg" with the matching Disc Drive Letter.

4. Go to the BTM folder and launch the program thru "behind.exe". You can also create a Shortcut
of "behind.exe" and place it in the Start Menu.

5. Enjoy!

FULL HARD DRIVE INSTALL OF STAR WARS BEHIND THE MAGIC CD - CRTGAMER Fix

3. Copy entire contents including sub folders of Star wars Disc 1 to CD1 folder.

4. Copy entire contents including sub folders of Star Wars Disc 2 to CD2 folder.

5. Open Registery folder, run the registery installer: "BTMx64 Install Disc Drive C CD0.REQ".

6. Start the game by running RUNME.BAT which automatically renames selected folder to CD0.

7. IMPORTANT! Be sure to Exit "Press X" to correctly rename folders back to CD1 and CD2.

EDITING THE BTMx64 Install.reg FILE (Optional)

1. Open the file "BTMx64 Install.reg" using notepad or any ASCII text editor. Edit the path
where you'll be locating the BTM folder (note the registry requires double backslashes for
paths) and the drive letter you'll be using for placing the disc/images. Save the changes
after you're done. Example: if you want to place the BTM folder in D:\GAMES and your CD drive
is F: then you must edit the following lines like this:

"Executable"="D:\\GAMES\\BTM\\BTM.EXE"
"Install Path"="D:\\GAMES\\BTM"
"Source Path"="F:"
"CD Path"="F:"
"Analyze Path"="F:\\INSTALL\\SysCheck.exe"
"Source Dir"="F:\\"

If you want to uninstall Behind the Magic all you need to do is to double-click the provided
"BTMx64 Uninstall.reg" saying yes to all the prompts, send the BTM folder to the trash and you're done.

FUN FACT: While 32-bit executables can still be run under a 64-bit environment, 16-bit executables
are a complete no go. Well, for some reason, all LucasArts games from the 90's used 16-bit
installers, even though the games themselves were 32-bit. The annoying outcome of this is that,
even though the games might run, there's no way to install them under a 64-bit OS. Some of the most
popular games like Jedi Knight and Grim Fandango got some love and the community created unnoficial
64-bit installers that you can use with the original discs, however there's many others like
Behind The Magic that didn't get that benefit. But did you know that you can port your 32-bit installs
into a 64-bit OS? It's just a matter of installing the game in a machine or virtual environment
running a 32-bit OS, then importing the registry keys into the appropriate location of your 64-bit
machine. That's what I'm giving you here. Cheers!
